The Brilliance of being Kapil Sibal
Kapil Sibal, the Telecom Minister of India, has vowed to clean up the internet. The internet - that sewage that carries all the scum from all the connected devices on this planet! The drain will be cleaned when it enters India, and will remain clean throughout till it flows out into the vast ocean of garbage that is the internet, outside of our pristine country! In doing so, he who shall not be...

Why not accept defeat? →
Why not declare defeat? Why not admit that India lacks the political will to deal with the issue of terrorism from Islamic groups? After all, there is a long and noble tradition, especially in North India, of eagerly submitting to the newest group of barbaric men on horses who come over the Khyber Pass in order to sack Hindustan and even rule it.   A nation that lacks self-respect, that cannot...

Crime
What is the bigger crime? 1. To never allow a person to experience the fresh air of freedom, the privilege to make mistakes, and learn from them, the ability to judge for oneself the good or the bad nature of one’s actions, to provide a reasonable amount of shelter from false retribution however popular the violated tenet may be. Or 2. To give all the freedom mentioned above, and then...

The Hallmark of a Sports Great
The purpose of sports is to unite, divide, excite, propel to celebration, or to mourning, or simply stir as many emotions as possible, while testing the discipline of it’s student! By that definition, the player who creates most emotions in the minds of the audience should be defined the greatest! Sreesanth comes to mind, but his reasons have nothing to do with sports.

So, I bought a new 15-inch MacBook Pro. Intel i7, the new high-res screen, and an SSD. Even since last year I’ve been waiting to get one of the new sealed battery MacBooks to benefit from the huge battery life. This one promised 8-9 hours. Over the past few weeks, based on my regular usage (web… How sub-optimal software can blow away an amazing hardware capability!

The relevance of Tendulkar →
From a cricinfo blog: Wow moment As an Indian fan, it gives you goosebumps when Tendulkar walks in to bat. Every single person is on his or her feet, applauding and cheering wildly, with cries of “Sachin, Sachin” resounding through the stadium. I have been fortunate enough to witness, and contribute, to that adulation before. I did so this time as well. It is a special feeling.

The case for Safari Reader or "Readability" add-on... →
First, let’s recap, with a heavy dose of paraphrasing. Jim Lynch, last week: “This Safari Reader stuff is bullshit. It’s going to cannibalize advertising revenue right across the web, and it will be a nightmare for publishers who are, after all, entitled to that revenue by virtue of the mere…

Rapportive is a plugin for almost every browser that you use for Gmail. It replaces the “Ads” section of your GMail page while viewing emails, with the social footprint of the contact(s) in the email. You may see the Flickr/Twitter/Facebook information about the contact in that section. Nice concept, specially for keeping up with people on all fronts. Demo:
